Ocean Scene Collodion Ambrotype Set In Sterling Silver w/18" Sterling Chain
I'm fascinated with the ocean. It's a whole other world and I love to have a tiny bit of it with me, in miniature. I'm really happy with how this piece turned out and I hope you like it as well.
I made this little school of fish scene inside my studio. It was then time to create the tiny image. In the darkroom, I poured hand-mixed wet plate collodion chemistry onto the back of the 30mm x 40mm glass piece. I then exposed the image onto the glass using my antique 1912 bellows camera and then I took the exposed glass back into my darkroom to complete the processing of the ocean scene image. When completed it's called an ambrotype.
After the image was finished I made my way to my jeweler's bench to make the one of a kind sterling silver setting for the image. I also added a high quality 18 inch sterling silver wheat chain.
This piece would make a wonderful heirloom gift for yourself or a loved one.
Let me know if you have any questions for me and thank you so much for your interest.
